Plum Drinks and Firefly Night in Yadoriki

On June 16th, we had a special day in Yadoriki to match the annual Yadoriki Firefly Evening event. With kind support from Yokoyama Sake Shop, we got to make homemade umeshu (plum wine) and plum juice!

Umeshu is a favorite among many people — even visitors from overseas. The best part about making it yourself is being able to adjust the sweetness and strength just the way you like it.

This time, we even got to start with picking the plums. One person used a stick to gently shake the fruit from the tree, while the rest of us held out a big sheet to catch them. It really felt like we were all working as one team.

We received clear and careful instructions on how to prepare the drinks, and even got to taste some umeshu from last year — it was delicious!

6/16日に、恒例の「寄ホタルの夕べ」イベントに合わせ、 寄の横山酒屋さんご協力のもと、梅酒・梅ジュース作りを行いました。 梅酒は、外国人の方にも人気のお酒です。 手作りは、自分の好みで甘さや濃さを調節できるのがうれしいところです。 今回は、梅もぎから体験させていただきました。 1人が棒でつついて梅を落とし、他のみんなでシートを広げて梅を受け取ります。 この作業でみなさんの心がひとつになった気がします。 作り方を丁寧にご指導いただきました。 昨年の梅酒を試飲させていただきました。とてもおいしいかったです！

夜は、寄ホタルの夕べに行き、無数の青色に光るロマンティックな景色に感激しました。
In the evening, we headed to the firefly event. Surrounded by countless glowing blue lights, the romantic and dreamy atmosphere left us speechless.
