Matsuda Industrial Tourism Festival

On November 10th, the Matsuda Industrial Tourism Festival was held. Our organization, the Matsuda International Volunteer Association, set up an international booth at the event. Thanks to the pleasant weather that day, many visitors stopped by our colorful, multicultural booth and enjoyed interacting with people from different countries.

11月10日に松田産業観光祭りが行われました。私たち松田国際ボランティアの会では、国際ブースを出展しました。当日は過ごしやすい気候の中、国際色溢れるブースに多くの方が訪れてくださり外国人との交流をお楽しみただきました。

We sold handmade items such as traditional Thai soap carvings, Balinese woven bags, fair trade cookies, as well as coffee and salt from Bali. One visitor remarked, “It feels like I’ve been on an overseas trip!  We played “Rock-Paper-Scissors Around the World” with children and international guests. Friends from India, China, Indonesia, and Thailand taught us how it’s played in their countries. The different hand gestures and chants made it a fun and fascinating experience.
タイの伝統工芸であるソープカービング、バリ島のかごバッグなどの手作り品、フェアートレードのクッキー、バリ島のコーヒー、塩などを販売。「外国旅行に行ったような気分です」とお客様からお声をいただきました。
他にも、「世界のじゃんけん」を外国人と子供たちで行いました。インド、中国、インドネシア、タイのお兄さん、お姉さんに教えていただきました。掛け声や指の出し方が違いとても面白かったです。

At the exhibition corner, we showcased vintage Chinese picture books. Since these rare books are not something people often get to see, many visitors stopped by and flipped through the pages with great interest.
We also set up a henna art experience as part of our workshop activities. Watching the artist swiftly and beautifully draw unique designs on each visitor’s hand, perfectly matching their individual image, was truly captivating. It was a special and memorable experience for everyone involved.
At the end of the festival, a traditional daimyo gyoretsu (feudal lord’s procession) parade was held. The sight of adults carrying a mikoshi (portable shrine) and children performing dances with serious, focused expressions was truly impressive—a powerful and memorable procession.
展示コーナーでは、中国の昔の絵本を紹介しました。普段なかなか目にすることのない貴重な絵本に、多くの方が足を止め、興味深そうにページをめくっていました。
また、ワークショップとして、ヘナアートの体験コーナーも設けました。迷いなく素早くきれいに、お客さんそれぞれのイメージに合った模様を、手の甲に描いていく様子は、とても美しく、貴重な機会となりました。
そして、祭りの最後には、伝統の大名行列のパレードが行われました。神輿を担ぐ大人たちや、真剣な顔で集中して踊りをしている子供たちが行列をなしており、圧巻の行列でした。
