【Report】Japanese sweets making class

The Matsuda Town International Exchange Volunteer Association held a “Professional Japanese Sweets Making Class.”
This event originated from a request by a local nursing care facility: “We want to create an opportunity for our foreign trainees, who work so hard every day, to experience Japanese culture.”
Participants included foreign residents and Japanese staff from the facility, along with international students and members of the Showa Women’s University Matsuda Town Project, filling all 24 seats.
The instructor was Mr. Katsumata, President of the Odawara wagashi shop “Umezono,” who provided careful instruction.
After making the wagashi, the foreign participants introduced sweets from their home countries with photos. Everyone was fascinated, and many questions were raised.

松田町国際交流ボランティアの会は、「プロから習う和菓子作り教室」を開催しました。
今回の企画は、町内のある介護施設から、「日ごろ、懸命に働く外国人研修生に日本文化を体験していただく機会を作りたい」との相談があったことがきっかけに開催されたものでした。
参加者は施設の外国人、日本人スタッフの他に留学生、昭和女子大学松田町プロジェクトの皆さんなども加わり、24人の満席で行われました。
講師は、小田原の和菓子店「うめぞの」の勝俣社長をお迎えし、丁寧に教えていただきました。
和菓子作りの後は、参加の外国人の国のお菓子について写真とともに紹介いただき、皆さん興味津々で多くの質問があがりました。
